Birkot HaTorah - Shavuot Shiur (2020)

The formulation of Birkot HaTorah in our siddurim follows the opinion of Rav Pappa (Berachot 11b) who incorporated three berachot suggested by three individual sages. The shiur will analyze the fascinating philosophies of each sage as reflected in his beracha in order to understand the ultimate formulation of the blessings for Torah study.  This analysis will reveal relevant and meaningful insights into the mitzvah of daily Torah study and into Shavuot, The Festival of the Giving of the Torah.
