1. The structure of the Seder and Parashat Bikurim
This is the first in a series of lectures analyzing the sources in the Haggadah (29 minutes).
What is the connection between the Passover seder and Bikurim?
In this 30 minute lecture, Dr. Beni Gesundheit travels through the Tanach, Mishna and Talmud to gain a deeper understanding of the Haggadah and its connection to Parshat Bikkurim that is read when one brings a gift of the seven species to the Temple in Jerusalem.
2. Egyptology and Pesach
The defining story of the people of Israel is the story of the Exodus. This story is not only internal, it is full of references to ancient Egyptian culture. In this lecture we will describe the story of the Exodus with the insight into Egyptian culture from rich archaeological finds (1 hour 6 minutes).
3. The Four Sons in the Torah and in the Mishna
Seder night is the time to share the story of leaving Egypt with our children. As the Jews were physically leaving Egypt, it was not the time to tell the story, but shortly afterwards Moshe Rabbenu did instruct the people of Israel to share their experience. With the questions of the four sons we see how different personalities respond to the experience and in this lecture their questions are analyzed. Click to download the slideshow
4. Hallel during the Seder
Hallel in the fifth book of Tehillim is the most important cornerstone of the Passover Haggadah. In this lecture we will discuss the connection between the Hallal chapters within the Book of Tehillim, the interplay between the Hallal units and the story of the Exodus that shapes the Seder night.
