Structure & Meaning of the Chagim in the Jewish Calendar

There are several holidays throughout the Jewish Year and each one has its own special significance.

  • We shall be examining the harmony between the festivals as a whole.
  • We shall analyse the circumstances of the Chagim in chronological order.
  • We shall start with the festivals mentioned in the Torah (A) and other biblical sources (B) and go on to explain the later rabbinical festivals (C) including the modern commemorations and festivals that belong to our modern generations.

The thread that runs through all the festivals often cuts across strict chronological boundaries, but they all come together to form a harmonic whole.
